Raspberry Jellies

This is the perfect healthy treat to fuel your family’s gut health.

Traditionally our diets were high in gelatin, since we were eating ‘Nose-to-tail’, where as many parts of the animal as possible were eaten. Today, we may consume large amounts of muscle meat and very little gelatin. Gelatin provides us with essential amino-acids, important building blocks of proteins, which may be critical for digestive health. Gelatin may assist in improving the gut lining, an important internal defense system. Gelatin may also facilitate adequate production of stomach acid, important for digestion and nutrient absorption.

Tip: Make double the amount, as your kids may devour them in less than two days like in our house.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of raspberries, frozen

  • 1.5 tablespoons grass-fed gelatin powder

  • 4 tablespoons filtered water

  • 2 tablespoons raw honey

Method

Mix gelatin and water in a small bowl, set aside.

Heat berries in a medium saucepan with the lid on for 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring ocasionally.

Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.

Add all the other ingredients and stir well. You can crush the berries with a wooden spoon or use a blender to get a smoother consistency.

Spoon into silicon molds and place in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours to set.

LOW FODMAP

Use monkfruit sweetener instead of honey and strawberries in replacement of raspberries.
